How our apple chips are made
We source 100% ugly and surplus non-GMO fruit.
It's sliced with the peel on to keep in fiber and vitamins.
Solar-heat reduces moisture to create a shelf-stable snack.
Our chips are cooled and sealed, so they stay crisp for 12 months.
Upcycled fruit snacks are made from fruit that are ugly, surplus or even by-products from making other fruit-based products. Instead of wasting these ingredients, they are reused and turned into new snacks.
It’s hard for us to ignore how much apples are rejected because they don’t meet cosmetic standards, like size, shape, colour or even shine! These don’t affect taste or nutrition, so we choose to use those apples instead.
Our apple chips are solar-baked, which reduces most of their water and makes them extra crispy with stronger flavours than fresh apples being juicy, soft and prone to spoilage.
Most health concerns come from store-bought apple chips that have added sugar or additives, which can make them less healthy. If you choose natural apple chips with no added sugar, they can be as healthy as eating fresh apples.
Some brands on the market contain added sugar, but ours don’t. Our apples are picked when they are ripe, so they are naturally sweet on their own. We don’t add sugar, even in our flavoured chips.
Yes, they are suitable for vegans and 100% plant-based in their whole natural form, going through only minimal processing.
